Why pay 2340 Euros for a Neolin ?
Many different prices must be paid for the wide range of existing violins. From the cheapest “bargains” for less than 100 € you can find on the Internet – however, they have not got much in common with a genuine violin apart from the name – to the very expensive new master instruments with prices of up to 30000 €.
There are a multitude of instruments from China and East Europe between those extremes that cost from 100 to 3000 €. The prices for violins handcrafted by “western” violin makers start at about 3000 €.
As you see, the Neolin although entirely manufactured in France belongs to the first category at less than 3000 €. We can offer it at this price thanks to manufacture in small series, to snagging by CNC machines and to the idealism inherent to the project.
The finishing including the varnish is hand-made following the traditions of classical violin making. The model - roughly carved out by machines - has been designed by a master craftsman with an 11-year experience.
Moreover, the Neolin is sold with high quality accessories: case, spare strings, shoulder-rest and jack-cable.
Compared to Chinese violins in the same price range that belong to the upper middle class, the Neolin is quite outstanding: Those instruments are equally series production, and although entirely hand-made, their builders lack an appropriate and complete training as violin makers.
It is not reasonable to compare the Neolin for 2340 € with the promotional offer on the Internet for 150 €. The Neolin’s price is not only adequate – it is actually a good bargain !
If you consider buying a Neolin, it is normal to compare its price to that of its “older cousins”, the violins. But this comparison has to be done on the right basis.
