Baptiste, a little bit everywhere
Oct 29, 2008

Hello, my name is Baptiste.

I work as a manager on humanistic projects and after each expatriation I compose fairy tale music and record the strings for hip hop DJs, electronic music... I use my instrument in a very large field not only acoustics but also amplified with many different effects. About two months ago I bought a Neolin. The result is tremendous, with a very warm and clear sound which does not get tarnished, even not when being recorded.

It allows to play mandolin chords which of course means some work, but this is actually more easy and faster than the first years of learning to play the violin. Before I had bought it I had some doubts regarding the frets ... but after a few very informative discussions with Bodo I have finally made the entire experience. You very quickly get the right feeling of how to hold it. For the recordings I needed some time to find a balance which in the end is more effective than that of my old violin. So I only kept the Neolin. I take it with me on all my trips (Africa, Afghanistan, South-East Asia ...), and I can assure you that it is more robust than all the violins I took with me on my trips before. It is definitely a remarkable instrument. The best remedy I have found when I had the blues on returning home is to play some chords on minor swing and then resume them in arpeggio.
